Held once per year, our Key Executive Series event was born from an idea to bring face-to-face the most experienced and distinguished bankers in Massachusetts and new generations of banking professionals. This will be our 9th Series event with previous ones featuring CEO's and Presidents of Boston Private, Citizens Bank, Eastern Bank, Cambridge Trust, Wainwright Bank, Danversbank, Brookline Bank, and Rockland Trust.

Girard R. Sargent
President, RBS Citizens and Citizens Bank, Massachusetts

Mr. Sargent is president of Citizens Bank and RBS Citizens, N.A., Massachusetts, both subsidiaries of RBS Citizens Financial Group. He is responsible for overseeing the bank’s statewide leadership team, charitable giving and sponsorship committees, CRA activities, and the Corporate Banking business across northern New England. He co-chairs the bank’s New England Regional Board of Advisors and is a member of the parent company’s Executive Leadership Group.

His banking career spans 26 years and includes leadership positions at Shawmut Bank and State Street Corporation. Over his career, Mr. Sargent has held responsibilities across all facets of commercial banking.

Mr. Sargent serves on various business boards and executive committees aimed at improving the vitality of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. In this capacity, Mr. Sargent serves on the executive committees of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce, Massachusetts Business Roundtable, and the Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation. In 2011 Governor Deval Patrick appointed him to the Massachusetts Economic Development Planning Council. He was also the former Chairman of MassEcon.

He stays civically active and serves on the board of trustees of the New England Baptist Hospital, the board of directors of the United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley, the board of overseers of Children’s Hospital, the board of overseers of Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston, as well as the board of visitors of Lawrence Academy.

Mr. Sargent is a graduate of Bowdoin College with a degree in economics.
